Hero Rumble
This November, Rockford will witness its first-ever Hero Rumble at Hard Rock Live, and one of our own, Brandon Sullivan, is stepping into the ring as part of this high-profile charity boxing event. The event is slated for Saturday, November 1, 2025, with doors opening at 6 PM and boxing bouts starting at 7 PM.
Hero Rumble is structured as a Police vs. Fire charity boxing showdown, giving first responders from Rockford’s law enforcement and firefighting departments an arena to compete in spirited but meaningful matchups. Alongside the department matchups, the card will also feature local and regional amateur USA Boxing bouts.
Brandon Sullivan, as a Rockford firefighter, is expected to be one of the face matches in the Fire team lineup. His presence in the lineup bridges two worlds: his reputation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts, and his role and service in local firefighting.
The event also carries meaning beyond the sport itself. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center, a nonprofit organization serving Boone and Winnebago Counties. The Center supports families dealing with child sexual abuse and serious physical trauma, providing wraparound services like counseling, legal coordination, and advocacy.
Further adding to the event’s weight, acknowledgment from local officials suggests the choice of participants and matchups is curated to be competitive and symbolic. Honorary captains have been named: State Representative Dave Vella for the Police side, and State Representative Maurice West for the Fire side.
For those in the Rockford area, this is an event worth following. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster (starting around $30 for general admission), and VIP or floor seating is also on offer.
We’re thrilled for Brandon and proud to see him take on this role. Whether you know him from the mats, see him in the community, or you’re just curious to witness the action, Hero Rumble will be a night to remember in Rockford.
