Morning Training
Black Flag offers early morning sessions for those who want to train before work or school:
- Strength & Conditioning: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 8:00 AM – Functional strength training to build power, endurance, and resilience for grappling and everyday life.
- All-Levels Jiu-Jitsu: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 9:00 AM – Open to all experience levels, focusing on live training, positional work, and technique application.
Midday Classes
For those with flexible schedules or lunch-hour availability:
- All-Levels Jiu-Jitsu: Monday–Thursday at 12:00 PM – Perfect for anyone who wants to get in extra training or prefers smaller class sizes.
Kids & Teens | Building Skills and Confidence
Our youth program develops discipline, self-defense, and athleticism in a safe, encouraging environment:
- Youth I Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 5–9): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 4:30–5:15 PM – Foundational skills, fun games, and a focus on movement and coordination.
- Youth II Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 9–17): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 5:15–6:00 PM – A more advanced class that introduces strategy, positional sparring, and competition preparation.
Evening Training | For Adults of All Levels
Our evening sessions are where Rockford’s grappling community comes together:
- Grappling Foundations: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 5:00 PM – Ideal for beginners or anyone refining the fundamentals of no-gi grappling.
- All-Levels Jiu-Jitsu (No-Gi): Monday & Wednesday at 6:00 PM – A complete CLA (Constraint-Led Approach) class focused on skill development, active participation, and competition training.
- All-Levels Jiu-Jitsu (Gi): Tuesday & Thursday at 6:00 PM – A complete CLA (Constraint-Led Approach) class focused on skill development, active participation, and competition training.
Wrestling Training
We integrate wrestling into our program for better takedowns and mat control:
- Wrestling: Tuesday 5:00–6:00 PM and Thursday 4:00–6:00 PM – Great for BJJ competitors or anyone wanting to improve stand-up grappling.
- Wrestling Open Mat: Sunday at 3:00 PM – A time to drill, spar, and practice takedown techniques with partners.
Open Mats
Open mats are unstructured sessions where you can spar, review techniques, or get one-on-one help from teammates:
No-Gi Open Mat: Friday at 6:00 PM – Bring your no-gi gear and work on any part of your game.
Private Lessons
In addition to group classes, private lessons are available with our coaches for both adults and kids. These sessions are perfect for sharpening your skills, preparing for competition, or getting extra guidance outside of regular classes.
